Universities urged to overcome budget deficits: Governor

Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Governor, Sardar Mahtab Ahmad Khan said that universities are autonomous bodies and the universities administration should manage financial budget in an appropriate way in order to overcome the budget deficit. Firm guideline should be formulated for budget of the university. He emphasised "the university administration to follow a strict calendar and all provisions should be according to university Model Act".
He said that University of Engineering and Technology Peshawar is autonomous body and there are provisions for arranging training and workshops for their students, which should be conducted on the basis of merit. He expressed these views in a Senate Meeting for approval of budgets University of Peshawar, at Governor House Peshawar.
Secretary HED, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Professor Dr Noor Muhammad (Dean Facility of Engineering), Professor Dr Syeda Farhana, Professor Dr Qasim Jan (Advisor COMSTECH), Engineer Muhammad Asghar (Rector National university of Science and Technology) and others were also present at the meeting. The Governor was apprised about Revised Budget Estimates 2014-2015 and Budget Estimates 2015-16. The Governor appreciated University of Engineering and Technology for conducting research on market oriented activities and gaining revenues from it.
