EDO Sheikhupura asked to step up dengue control efforts

Advisor to Chief Minister Punjab on Health Khawaja Salman Rafique has directed all the concerned departments to continue their vigorous anti-dengue activities including outdoor and indoor surveillance to overcome dengue issue during and after coming rainy season. He also directed to re-check the spray pumps, foggers and stock of pesticides in their stock so that no difficult situation could be faced at the hour of need.
He said this while presiding over a meeting of Cabinet Committee on Dengue at Civil Secretariat, here on Monday. Besides, Lubna Faisal MPA, senior officers of all the concerned departments, epidemiologists, public health experts, Chief Entomologist, Professor Waseem Akram and the officers of federal government departments attended the meeting. The meeting reviewed the steps taken by the different departments for dengue control especially in Lahore, Rawalpindi and Sheikhupura. The officer of special branch presented a report regarding the dengue sour points in graveyards, junkyards, hospitals and other places.
Khawaja Salman Rafique directed the concerned departments and agencies for immediate redressal of the issues pointed out by the special branch. He directed EDO Health Sheikhupura to improve his performance with regards to the dengue control activities and arrange capacity building training for the members of surveillance teams in collaboration of Institute of Public Health.
He directed all the concerned departments to accelerate their dengue control activities. He further said that minor inefficiency or slackness could create problems in dengue peak season therefore all the stakeholders should discharge their duties with dedication and professional zeal.
