The Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) is likely to give cash rewards to the tax officers based on their performance of withholding tax recovery at the units of withholding tax in the field formations. In this regard, the field formations have received instructions from the Directorate General Withholding Tax FBR on the analysis of withholding tax performance reports of income tax and sales tax by each unit incharge of withholding tax from January to March 2015.
According to the FBR, an exercise of evaluating performance of each officer working as unit incharge of withholding unit (Income Tax and Sales Tax) has been done for the third quarter, wef, January to March 2015. The purpose is to encourage and identify good job done by some officers and stress upon the others to gear up their efforts. In view thereof, as an indicator list of few withholding units have been prepared mainly relying upon the criteria covering number of desk audits conducted and demand created/collected.
The list pertaining to LTU/RTO has been communicated by the FBR to the relevant LTUs/RTOs. It is requested that each officer working in withholding unit be stressed upon for recovery of outstanding income tax and sales tax demand crated (excluding stay) on account of withholding tax, the FBR maintained. This is to reiterate that work done by each officer/incharge of withholding unit is being closely monitored by the Board. The proposal for cash reward for each officer should be based on their performance, the FBR instructions added.
