The tropical cyclone "Ashobaa" is heading to Oman shores leaving Pakistan's coastal areas out of dangers, the Met office said on Wednesday. The cyclone loomed large over the east-north-east of Oman's Masirah Island just 290 kilometres away but Karachi is widely out of its dangers for being distant by 700 kilometres. The cyclone swirled through Western Arabian Sea with a tendency to hit Oman coast, it said.
Ashobaa was forecast to intensify further in the next 12 hours but would gradually weaken close to Oman coast afterwards. "The danger for Pakistani coastal area is now over, however due to high tidal flow the sea conditions are likely to remain rough along Sindh coast and very rough along Makran coast," it said.
Gusty winds are expected and sea tide is likely to surge by 12 feet across Pakistan's coastline. Fishermen of Sindh are advised to sail into deep sea from Thursday (today) and Balochistan seafarers can voyage from Friday. Under the influence of this system isolated rain/thundershowers of moderate intensity is expected in south-west Balochistan including Pasni, Gwadar, Turbat, Kech and Jiwani during the next 24 hours.
