Industrial growth: World Bank to provide $100 million to Punjab

The World Bank will provide 100 million dollars to Punjab under a new Programme-for-Results (P4R) to promote the industrial growth by improving the business environment and facilitating the development of industrial clusters in the province. This was stated by Chairman Planning and Development Board Muhammad Irfan Elahi while presiding over an initial meeting with the World Bank Punjab Jobs and Competitiveness Mission held at P&D Complex here on Wednesday.
Provincial Secretary P&D Waseem Ajmal Chaudhary, Members P&D Board Provincial Secretaries of different Departments, Chairman Punjab Industrial Estate Development and Management Company, MD Punjab small Industry Corporation, Vice Chairman Punjab Board & Investment and Trade, CEO, Urban Unit P&D, DG Monitoring & Evaluation and other concerned senior officers attended the meeting.
Co-team leader Fatima Shah, senior representative led the WB Mission. Team leader Fatima Shah of WB Mission gave special briefing on the P4R, Industrial Growth to the participants. Chairman P&D said that recently established investment climate reform unit in P&D would be more strengthened by providing technical assistance from the WB. During the meeting, participants belonging to different institutions gave different suggestions before the World Bank Mission & Punjab Government on the implementation plan of that program.
