Khattak convenes APC on vote rigging allegations

08 Jun, 2015

Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Pervez Khattak on Sunday said that the KP government would hold an All Parties Conference (APC) on June 9 to deal with the issue of rigging charges in the recently held Local Government elections. He said that PTI itself was a victim of the ECP failures and like all other parties it had also some grievances.
He further said that the KP LG elections were unprecedented in scale and therefore neither the ECP nor the local administration was fully prepared. Khattak said that PTI was committed to holding free and fair elections as it provided moral authority to a party to govern. This is why an APC was being called on June 9 to take all political parties on board and find a way out of the present impasse, he added.
He said that whatever consensus emerged from the APC, including the possibility of a re-election, the PTI government would abide by it.
