Pakistan reiterates commitment to UN peacekeeping missions

Pakistan has reiterated its unflinching commitment to the United Nations peacekeeping missions from Latin America to Africa to Europe to Asia. Pakistan's Permanent Mission to the United Nations, European Office said this while participating in an event at Geneva to commemorate the International Day of the United Nations Peacekeepers.
He said more than 8,000 peacekeepers are currently serving in UN Peacekeeping Missions around the world. Pakistan's Mission said Pakistan's contribution was the most tangible for the maintenance of international peace and security. He said 142 Pakistani peacekeepers had sacrificed their lives for the cause of world peace. The Mission also paid tribute to the five Pakistani peacekeepers who were posthumously awarded the Dag Hammarskjold Medal by the UNSG recently. Flag raising and wreath laying ceremony was held at the UN Memorial in Geneva.
