K-Electric on Wednesday raided industrial areas of Orangi where big commercial users were caught stealing electricity. "Apart from a few FIRs, thieves were apprehended by Law-Enforcing Agencies," said a K-Electric spokesman. The spokesman said the ongoing Operation Burq against power thieves and big defaulters would continue till the menace was brought under total control.
A company statement said KE's team visited 31 different spots on Wednesday and raids were conducted in areas like Orangi, Sadr, Tipu Sultan, Garden, Korangi, Johar, Shah Faisal, Malir, Gadap, Gulshan, FB Area and Nazimabad. Almost 2,500 illegal connections were pulled down and confiscated and these illegally connected wires weighed in over 1,300 kilograms. A few other arrests were also made in North Nazimabad, whereas investigation had commenced.-PR
