Illegal housing societies & Katchi Abadies: NA body resents CDA's failure in stopping mushroom growth

National Assembly Standing Committee on Cabinet Secretariat has shown strong resentment over failure of Capital Development Authority (CDA) in stopping the mushroom growth of illegal housing societies and Katchi Abadies in Islamabad. The Committee met under the Chairmanship of MNA Rana Muhammad Hayat Khan, to discuss the issue of illegal housing societies & Katchi Abadies of Islamabad and action taken by CDA in this regard.
The Committee expressed strong displeasure over the passive attitude of CDA and other concerned authorities as they failed to stop the mushroom growth of illegal housing societies and Katchi Abadies in Islamabad. The Committee was of the view that rapid growth of illegal housing societies and Katchi Abadies are not possible without the involvement of CDA officials and directed that CDA might identify the black sheep of their department and take stern action against them.
The Committee directed that CDA might provide detail of action initiated by the present management of CDA during the last 18 months against the responsible for providing shelter to illegal housing societies and Katchi Abadies by all means. The Committee decided to discuss the said issue with NAB, FIA, IESCO, SNGPL and ICT on June 17, so that concrete measures to be taken against the illegal housing societies and Katchi Abadies.
Earlier, CDA Chairman briefly apprised the Committee about the action taken against illegal hosing societies & Kachi Abadies and problems faced by them. He was of the view that CDA was unable to handle the issue lonely without the support of other stakeholders. Following MNAs ie Parveen Masood Bhatti, Nighat Parveen Mir, Shahnaz Saleem, Mrs Seema Mohiuddin Jameeli, Pir Shafqat Hussain Jilani, Syed Ali Raza Abidi, Dr Marheen Razaq Bhutto, Nafeesa Inayatullah Khan Khattak, Moulvi Agha Muhammad and Muhammad Rehan Hashmi were present in the meeting.
