Punjab, Sindh sizzle amid power outages

As weather remained hot and dry in most parts of the country on Friday and mercury topped 49 degree Celsius in some parts of Sindh and Balochistan provinces, the people living in plains of Punjab and Sindh sizzled in the heat amid frequent electricity outages.
The Met Office recorded temperature at Shaheed Benazirabad, Sibbi, Moenjodaro 49°C, Jacobabad, Larkana, Sukkur 48°C, Dadu, Padidan, Rohri, RY Khan 47°C, Bahawalnagar, Khanpur, Bhakkar, Noorpurthal 46°C, DG Khan 45.5°C Turbat and Multan 45°C, Joharabad 44.2°C, DI Khan 44.3°C, T T Sindh 44.3°C, Lahore, Jhang, Sargodha, Faisalabad, Kasur 43°C. Meanwhile, the sale of soft drinks, Lassi, Faluda and other traditional cold drinks has increased manifold.
WEATHER FORECAST FOR TODAY: Scattered thunderstorm/rain (associated with dust storm/gusty winds) is expected over upper Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (Malakand, Hazara, Peshawar, Mardan, Kohat divisions), upper Fata, upper Punjab (Rawalpindi, Gujranwala, Sargodha, Lahore divisions), Islamabad, Gilgit-Baltistan and Kashmir. Further, isolated thunderstorm/rain (associated with dust storm/gusty winds) may occur over lower Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (DI Khan, Bannu divisions), upper Sindh, Faisalabad, DG Khan, Multan, Quetta, Zhob divisions and lower Fata.
WEATHER FORECAST NEXT 48 HOURS: Rain-thundershower with dust storm is expected at scattered places in upper KP (Malakand, Hazara, Peshawar, Kohat, Mardan divisions), Fata, Islamabad, upper Punjab (Rawalpindi, Gujranwala, Sargodha, Lahore, Faisalabad divisions), Kashmir and Gilgit-Baltistan. Dust storm/ gusty winds also expected in Multan, DG Khan and Sahiwal divisions. Hot & dry weather is expected elsewhere in the country.
