'Only one confirmed dengue case reported in Punjab'

The Dengue Control Additional Director General Doctor Islam Zafar has claimed that only one confirmed dengue patient from Gujranwala has reported in Punjab so far. In a meeting of the Cabinet Committee on Dengue on Friday, he reviewed the dengue situation at the provincial level. Advisor to Chief Minister on Health Khawaja Salman Rafique was also present. All government departments asked to continue the anti-dengue drive. He also said the Metrological Department had forecast more rains in the coming days prompting the government departments to remain more alert.
The Lahore and Sheikhupura executive health officers then briefed about the indoor and outdoor dengue surveillance activities while the officers of different departments talked about their performance. In a speech, Additional Chief Secretary Syed Mubashar Raza told the government departments to show more seriousness towards control of dengue and present actual picture of the steps taken by them and also send permanent focal person in the cabinet committee meeting who should be well prepared to brief the meeting. He said Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif is strictly monitoring anti-dengue activities conducted by various departments and it is a clear indication from his side that the departments should take effective measures for controlling dengue.
