Transgender person shot dead at wedding in Hafizabad

A transgender person was shot dead at a wedding in Hafizabad, Punjab on Thursday.

The transgender person was shot by one of the wedding guests after she asked the men to stop harassing them, local media reported. The suspected shooter fled the scene after shooting the transgender person. The body was taken to a nearby hospital.

Soon after the murder, some members of the transgender community protested the killing. The protesters have demanded the Chief Justice of Pakistan Saqib Nisar to take notice of the incident.

This is not the first time that a transgender person has been attacked and killed. On April 23, a transgender person was shot dead by two unidentified suspects in the Kalu Khan area of Swabi district. Earlier, an Afghan transgender Sheena was heartlessly tortured and was then shot five times.

Another Similar incident happened on March 27 when a transgender person and her male friend were shot dead by unidentified people in Peshawar while traveling on a rickshaw.
