Addressing a meeting also attended by Chairman, District Municipal Corporation - West, Rehan Hashmi, Vice Chairman, Syed Shakir Ali U.Cs chairmen of the district, he said concerted efforts must be made to achieve the target, with specific reference to cleaning and plantation, so that citizens may celebrate the national independence in a befitting manner.

Karachi Mayor said municipal bodies are meant to serve the masses and there survival depends on delivery of the required job with utmost efficiency and honesty.

He on the occasion appreciated the district, town and union councils for serving the people at grass root levels against all odds and despite restricted resources.

"The fact that they are actively engaged in development work coupled with addressing their civic problems as removal of waste, cleaning of gutters and sewage line besides ensuring regular water supply is highly appreciable," said Syed Waseem Akhter.

He urged the councilors not to compromise the quality of the development as well as associated services under any condition.

Karachi Mayor, on the occasion, was also given a detailed briefing about the ongoing civic work in the central district of Karachi with specific reference to cleaning of rain drains and removal of collected waste to designated disposal sites on regular basis.

He later on also visited different nullahs and drains running in the district.
