Fog may disrupt Lahore, Sialkot, Multan flights today: Met Office

The dense foggy conditions would continue in plains of Punjab, due to which flights at Lahore, Sialkot, Multan and Faisalabad airports may be interrupted today (Tuesday). The traffic over Motorway and GT Road may also be interrupted, Meteorological department said in a special weather advisory. It said a fresh weak trough of the westerly wave lies over North-western and adjoining areas of the country.
Cold continental air is prevailing over most parts of the country. Light snowfall over the hills may occur at one or two places of Quetta, Zhob, Malakand, Hazara divisions, Gilgit-Baltistan & Kashmir.
In its daily weather report, Met office said that minimum temperature dropped significantly on Monday and the country remained in the grip of severe cold wave.
It recorded minimum temperature at Skard-12.0°C, Astore -9.0°C, Kalat -8.0°C, Hunza, Gilgit -7.0°C, Parachinar, Gupis, Quetta -6.0°C, Kalam -4.0°C, Lower Dir, Dalbandin, Zhob, Dir -3.0°C, Malamjabba, Rawalakot, Bannu, Drosh -2.0°C, Chitral, Mirkhani, D.I Khan, Murree, Saidu Sharif -1.0°C. The minimum temperature in Lahore was recorded 02 C.
Weather forecast for today:
Very cold and dry weather is expected in most parts of the country. Dense foggy conditions would continue in Gujranwala, Lahore, Faisalabad, Multan, Bahawalpur and Sahiwal divisions, while foggy in Sargodha, D G Khan, D I Khan and Sukkur divisions during night and morning hours. Ground frost may occur in Rawalpindi, Jehlum, Chakwal, Abbottabad and Islamabad. Further, scattered frost would occur over Fata, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Punjab (including Islamabad), Kashmir, Balochistan and Sindh after midnight.
Weather outlook next 48 hrs
Very cold and dry weather is expected in most parts of the country.
However, light rain (with light snowfall over the hills) is expected at isolated places in Malakand divisions and Gilgit-Baltistan.
