The LPG Association of Pakistan has assured the Federal Petroleum Ministry that the association would make all out efforts to reduce the LPG price in the larger interest of the consumers. The assurance was made by the LPG Association of Pakistan during a meeting with Federal Petroleum Minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi here on Wednesday. Chairman of the Association Farooq Iftikhar was leading the delegation while other members were also present on the occasion.
Farooq Iftikhar said recent hike in LPG prices was not due to marketing companies but growing gap between demand and supply was the real reason. "There is a crucial shortage of LPG due to cool weather and gas loadshedding but LPG Association of Pakistan is making out its all out efforts to overcome the shortage as some of its members are importing LPG which will be available to the consumers within this week," he said.
He said reduced LPG prices would be advertised soon and told the minister that the government would have to ensure better regulation to reign in the retailers. The delegation acknowledged the understanding of the Ministry and Ogra on the issue. He said the association would extend best co-operation to the Ministry of Petroleum and Ogra. He said LPG had a great future in Pakistan and it had witnessed tremendous growth over the past few years.
