24 Dec, 2014

A division bench of the Lahore High Court here on Tuesday dismissed an appeal of Mumtaz challenging his death penalty. The convict Mumtaz through his counsel pleaded that the trial court of Sargodha awarded him death sentence on charges of killing Muhammad Ashraf. He said the court conducted unfair trial and handed down the sentence.
A deputy prosecutor opposed the petition and said that the trial court awarded the punishment in light of case evidence. He said all witnesses testified against the convict. The bench after hearing both the sides dismissed the petition.
