Lashari murder case: ATC dismisses applications of the accused

The Anti-Terrorism Court-III (ATC-III), Karachi, on Wednesday dismissed applications filed by accused Salman Abro in the Suleman Lashari murder case. Abro, the main suspect of the case, had filed different applications in ATC in his defence. Through an application under section 256 (k) of the Code of Criminal Procedure (CrPC), the court had been requested to acquit the suspect while through another application, the suspect had pleaded transfer of the case to a regular court.
The other applications include sections pertaining to human rights violation and legal objection on the charge sheet of the case. The ATC-III judge pronounced its verdict on applications filed by the accused after hearing arguments from the prosecutor and defence lawyers. Lashari, an 18-year-old student, was killed by his friend Salman Abro in Defense Housing Authority (DHA) following a quarrel on 08 May, 2014. Abro, who is son of a police officer, was also injured when one of the victim's guards returned fire.
