Lasbela Chamber seeks reduction in oil prices

29 Oct, 2014

Lasbela Chamber of Commerce and Industry chairman Yakoob A Karim has said that the government is bound to follow international price mechanism of petroleum products and should reduce the oil prices at the same ratio locally. He said that the government should reduce oil prices by at least Rs 10 per litre as the world oil prices were falling constantly.
Yakoob said that the PML-N government as per its claim of being business and investment friendly should reduce the oil prices honestly, which was the right of the people of the country. He said that masses in general and trade and industry in particular needed some relief at this juncture when everyone was under the heavy burden of unaffordable prices of utilities.
He lamented the increase of Re 0.52 per unit on the pretext of fuel adjustment which he declared uncalled for and unjustified. He said that industries in the country were closing down due to unbearable cost of production and energy crisis. Yakoob said that the incumbent government had done nothing to overcome energy crisis except increasing the prices of electricity, gas and other utilities frequently.
