The Sindh High Court (SHC) on Monday directed officials of Rangers and police to produce four missing persons, said to be taken away by them during raids. A division bench, headed by Justice Ahmed Ali M. Shaikh, gave this direction while hearing four separate petitions seeking recovery of missing men. The court also issued notices to official respondents - home secretary, Rangers director general, heads of Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI), Military Intelligence (MI) and police officials to file their respective responses to the petition by November 6.
The petitioner, Rabia alleged that Rangers personnel took away her spouse, Ikramul Haq, from his house in Orangi Town's Faqir Colony on October 14 and since then he was missing. She claimed that law-enforcers had kept her husband in illegal detention as they did not produce him in court of law, if he was involved in any criminal case. She expressed apprehension that her husband might be killed in a fake encounter by law-enforcers and pleaded to the court to direct respondents to produce him in court. Another petitioner, Fazul-ur-Rehman told the judges that his nephew, 27-year-old, Ahmed Sharif, was picked up by personnel of paramilitary force from his house in Lyari area and since then there was no clue of him.
Another petitioner, Muhammad Sharif alleged that Rangers personnel raided his house in Garden's Usmanabad and took away his 28-year-old son Kashif. He said law-enforcers arrested him without any plausible reason and did not produce him in any court, if he was involved in any criminal activity. Insisting that his son was kept in illegal detention by LEAs, he pleaded to the court to direct law-enforcement officers to produce him in court.
