Rs 350 million Modarba scam: NAB Rawalpindi arrests accused

The National Accountability Bureau (NAB) Rawalpindi has arrested an accused Muhammad Saqib of Global Concerns in a Rs 350 million case of Modarba scam. Accused Mufti Saqib and Mati-ur-Rehman in connivance with another accused cheated public at large in the name of Modarba business and deprived them of millions of rupees.
NAB Rawalpindi has so far received 201 claims in the case amounting to Rs 350 million. During the inquiry it transpired that the accused person in connivance with each other induced public at large to invest the amount in their Global Concerns' illegal Modarba/Musharika business against attractive profits and thus looted the general public. The investigation team is trying hard for the recovery of looted money. So far Rs 7.3 million has been recovered in this case.
Accused Mufti Muhammad Saqib was produced before the Accountability Court Islamabad on Friday. The Court has granted 14 days physical remand of the accused to NAB Rawalpindi for further investigation. The arrest warrants of the accused were issued by Director General (DG) NAB Rawalpindi. It is pertinent to mention here that the main accused in this Modaraba case, Mati-ur-Rehman, is already in judicial custody at Adyala Jail Rawalpindi.
The NAB is pursuing Modarba cases with utmost efforts for recovery of looted money so as to provide relief to the affectees. So far 18 accused persons have been arrested in different Modarba scams including Mufti Ehsan-ul-Haq, Mufti Ibrar-ul-Haq, Hafiz Muhammad Nawaz, Moeen Aslam, Obaidullah, Mufti Shabbir Ahmad Usmani, Sajjad Ahmed, Asif Javed, Ghulam Rasool Ayubi, Muhammad Hussain Ahmed, Hamid Nawaz, Muhammad Irfan, Bilal Khan Bangash, Matiur Rehman, Muhammad Numan Qureshi, Syed Aksheed Hussain Muhammad Adil Butt and Mufti Saqib.-PR
