Illegal assets case: bail to former MNA denied

14 Oct, 2014

The Lahore High Court here on Monday denied protective bail to a former MNA Naseem-ur-Rehman in a reference of illegal assets worth Rs 8.2 million. The petitioner's counsel argued that his client was MNA of Awami National Party (ANP) and hence National Accountability Bureau (NAB) had filed a politically motivated reference against him in General Musharraf's (Retd) regime. He said the NAB failed to prove the allegation so far.
He said the petitioner wanted to attend the trial court proceedings but had apprehensions of being arrested. He therefore prayed to the court to grant protective bail to the petitioner. The court however denied the bail.
