Chief Justice Nasirul Mulk Monday recused himself from continuing to hear Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf's (PTI) plea regarding thumb impression verification in four constituencies of the country. A three-member bench led by the Chief Justice of Pakistan was hearing a PTI- Workers Party Pakistan petition relating to non-implementation of the apex court's June 8, 2012 verdict over introduction of election reforms for general elections in May 2013.
From the outset of the hearing, the Chief Justice Nasirul Mulk said during his tenure as Chief Election Commissioner, he had submitted replies to the PTI applications in the matter so he has decided to recuse himself from continuing to hear the current case. The Chief Justice said another bench would be formed to hear the present case and adjourned the hearing till November 10.
