Rotary is a global humanitarian organisation with more than 1.2 million members in 34000 Rotary clubs in over 200 countries and geographical areas. Rotary members are the men and women who are businesspersons, professional and community leaders with a shared commitment to make the world a better place through humanitarian service. Rotary's top priority is the global eradication of polio. To-date, Rotary has contributed more than US $1 million for polio eradication activities in Pakistan.
To enhance widespread advocacy in Pakistan on polio, Rotary International has sponsored a musical film/documentary 'Overcoming All Challenges' with Salman Ahmed - Junoon fame. Rotary's Pakistan national Polio Plus Committee and Salman have been working closely together since July of this year, to bring 'synergy' in mobilising religious leaders and diffuse misconceptions toward the polio vaccine.
Salman said: "Arts and fuel such entrepreneurship, especially in a nation such as Pakistan that can't be understood apart from its artistic heritage. Whereas politics and religion there can be divisive, the arts are unifying. I feel confident that polio will soon be history in Pakistan. The biggest strength I bring to the table is my unprecedented JUNOON and commitment to bring about positive and healthy change in the lives of Pakistanis. The poor and marginalized community of Pakistan provides me with tireless energy and motivation."-PR
