Irrigation department staff hailed for proper monitoring of canal structure

Provincial Minister for Irrigation and PIDA Chairman Mian Yawar Zaman has said that officers and field staff of Irrigation Department displayed exemplary co-ordination during flood last month due to which the canal structure was monitored round the clock. He further said the Punjab government was taking every possible step for the rehabilitation of flood affectees so that they could resume their normal life.
He expressed these views while talking to various delegations of farmers and flood-affected people. Senior officers of Irrigation Department and PIDA also accompanied the Minister. Mian Yawar Zaman offered Eid prayers with flood-affectees in Mauza Astana of Athara Hazari district Jhang. The Minister said the staff of Irrigation Department and farmers' community actively helped the people during the flood while canal structure and distributaries were continuously monitored which helped protect canal installations. The Minister said that after flood, the Irrigation Department took emergent steps for drainage of floodwater to save crops. He lauded the role of Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif in this regard.
