ISLAMABAD: Former Minister for Defence, Engr Khurram Dastgir Khan Tuesday said performance of the PML-N government during last five years of constitutional tenure was precedent and exemplary in all sectors including energy.

The PML-N last government had effectively worked for speedy development and uplift of the country and masses and had launched number of welfare and energy projects, he said talking to a private news channel.

He said when PML-N came into power 2013, the country had faced many challenges including power load shedding, terrorism and others but under the dynamic leadership of former Prime Minister Muhammad Nawaz Sharif, it had overcame energy shortage and eradicated the menace of terrorism.

Khurram Dastgir said, ”Our previous government had added 10, 000 megawatt in the national grid to provide uninterrupted power supply to consumers.” Nawaz Sharif had removed the darkness from the country through different projects and prudent policies, he added.

He said the upcoming general election would be held on stipulated time and expressed hope that PML-N would again form the government in the country.

To a query, he said no single evidence of corruption was proven against Nawaz Sharif despite that he was appearing before the court.

Nawaz Sharif always respect the court and struggled for independent judiciary in the country, he informed.

Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Leader Dr Yasmeen Rashid alleged that PML-N previous government did not focus in improving power transmission and distribution.

She claimed that transformers were bursting in the constituency of Nawaz Sharif due to old and poor lines.
