04 Jun, 2014

Expressing annoyance at a lacklustre performance of the Karachi police in investigating the murder of social worker Perven Rehman, the Supreme Court on Tuesday summoned Deputy Inspector General CID Sultan Ali Khawaja on June 10. Appearing before a three-member bench of Justice Nasirul Mulk in the case, SP Investigation Ihsan stated the head of the investigation team, Sultan Ali Khawja, was out of country to perform Umra and will return after three days.
A member of the bench, Justice Ejaz Ahmed Chaudhry, reprimanded the SP Investigation for failing to submit a current progress report in the matter and that he has not presented any details of the case. The bench issued directives to DIG CIA to appear before the court with a comprehensive report before it adjourned the case till June 10.
