Pakistanis released from Bagram: LHC seeks reply from Interior Ministry

04 Jun, 2014

The Lahore High Court here on Tuesday sought reply from interior ministry by June 05 for not arranging meeting of families with ten Pakistani citizens recently released from Bagram jail in Afghanistan. Justice Project Pakistan (JPP) filed an application saying the ministry was not following court orders in providing access to all ten released citizens.
Representing the petitioner, Barrister Sarah Belal told to the court that seven of the released detainees had been shifted to unknown locations in FATA and their families and legal counsel had been refused access. She asked to the court to obtain explicit guarantees from the interior ministry regarding safety, security and humane treatment of all the ten Pakistani detainees of Bagram jail.
