EU food & agriculture markets: 'Pakistan can get share by ensuring safety measures'

European Union Ambassador to Pakistan Lars-Gunnar Wigemark has said that Pakistan can get its share in European food and agriculture markets through trade by ensuring food safety measures. Addressing a seminar titled "Nutritional Therapies against the lifestyle disorders" arranged by National Institute of Food Science and Technology, University of Agriculture of Agriculture Faisalabad, he said that the grant of GSP Plus showed the importance the European Union attached to its relations with Pakistan.
In addition to expanding and facilitating Pakistan's trade with EU, GSP Plus will also promote economic growth. Talking about the Pakistan agricultural produces, he said that the country is producing the delicious fruits and vegetables. Pakistan is the agricultural country and majority of the people are associated with the sector. The adoption of food safety measures will pave the way for the development and progress of the country. He said that joint efforts are afoot to develop the food safety measures mechanism in the county. He said after ban on Indian mango, the European markets are open for Pakistani delicious mango. He also called for collaborated endeavour to fight the challenges of the climate change, which is the biggest threat. Pakistan is the one of the victims.
