ECP fully prepared to conduct general elections

ISLAMABAD: Spokesman to the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) Chaudhry Nadeem Qasim Monday said the ECP was fully prepared to conduct general elections in the country.

Talking to a private news channel, he said a summery has been sent by the ECP to the President, proposing that the election date should be fixed from July 25 to 27 as per clause 57 (1) of the Election Act 2017.

He said it was upto the President of Pakistan to fix a date so that elections could be held on the date.

To a question, the spokesman said that it was constitutional obligation to hold general elections within 60 days after completion of the term of the present government.
