Activities of Karachi Port and Port Qasim

KARACHI: The Karachi Port Trust handled 68,967 tonnes of cargo comprising 47,057 tonnes of import cargo and 21,910 tonnes of export cargo during last 24 hours ending at 0700 hours.

The total import cargo of 47,057 comprised of 31,239 tonnes of Containerized Cargo, 1,058 tonnes of Dap, 1,468 tonnes of Iron Ore & 13,292 tonnes of Oil & Liquid Cargo.

The total export cargo of 21,910 tonnes comprised of 11,610 tonnes of Containerized Cargo, 600 tonnes of Clinkers & 9,700 tonnes of Oil & Liquid Cargo.

Nearly, 3054 containers comprising of 1798 containers import and 1256 containers export were handled on Wednesday.

The break-up of imported containers shows 766 of 20’s and 501 of 40’s loaded while 00 of 20’s and 15 of 40’s empty containers, whereas that of exported containers shows 126 of 20’s and 379 of 40’s loaded containers while 110 of 20’s and 131 of 40’s empty containers were handled during the business hours.

Around, 05 ships namely Msc Krittika, Oriental Hibiscus, Cano, X-Press Anglesey and MT Quetta have berthed at Karachi Port.

Some 07 ships namely Indigo Ray, Nave Aquila, MT Mardan, Momentum Phonex, Olympia, Ameena Jahan and Msc Krittika have sailed at Karachi Port.

PORT QASIM

A total of 07 ships were engaged at PQA berths during the last 24 hours, out of them two ships, Al-Thakira and Santa Rosa left the Port on Wednesday morning & two more ships, FSM and Stream Baltic are expected to sail on 24th May, 2023.

Cargo throughput during last 24 hours stood at 137,246tones, comprising 103,207 tones imports Cargo and 34,039 tones export cargo, including containerized cargo carried in 3,320 Containers (1,673 TEUs Imports and 1,647 TEUs export) was handled at the port. The commodity-wise break-up of import and export cargo is highlighted as under.

There are 08 ships at Outer Anchorage of Port Qasim, out of them two ships, BMC Crystal and Ocean Hope & another ship, Cussler carrying Palm oil, Chemicals and Containers are expected to take berths at LCT, EVTL and QICT respectively on Wednesday, 24th May 2023.
