Activities of Karachi Port and Port Qasim

KARACHI: The Karachi Port Trust handled 181,261 tonnes of cargo comprising 150,651 tonnes of import cargo and 30,610 tonnes of export cargo during last 24 hours ending at 0700 hours.

The total import cargo of 150,651 comprised of 48,390 tonnes of Containerized Cargo, 16,183 tonnes of Canola, 1,045 tonnes of Chickpeas, 3,956 tonnes of Iron Ore, 1,376 tonnes of Rock Phosphate & 79,701 tonnes of Oil & Liquid Cargo.

The total export cargo of 30,610 tonnes comprised of 21,884 tonnes of containerized Cargo, 5,176 tonnes of Talc Powder & 3,550 tonnes of Oil & Liquid Cargo.

Nearly, 8426 containers comprising of 3140 containers import and 5286 containers export were handled on Tuesday.

The break-up of imported containers shows 704 of 20’s and 1212 of 40’s loaded while 12 of 20’s and 00 of 40’s empty containers, whereas that of exported containers shows 604 of 20’s and 460 of 40’s loaded containers while 642 of 20’s and 1560 of 40’s empty containers were handled during the business hours.

Around 05 ships namely, Cma Cgm Rabelais, Royal O, OOCL Charleston, Amagi Galaxy & Hakuna Matata have berthed at Karachi Port.

As many as 06 ships, namely Chemroute Sky, Hyundai Busan, Ken Star, Green Pole, Ital Usodimare and Gullf Jellet have sailed at Karachi Port.

PORT QASIM

A total of 07 ships were engaged at PQA berths during the last 24 hours, out of them a containers ship ‘MSC Noa’ left the Port on Tuesday morning, while 03 more ships, Lana, Al-Maha and Parnassos are expected to sail on today in the afternoon.

A Cargo volume of 81,359tonnes, comprising 41,994 tonnes imports cargo and 39,365 tonnes export cargo, including containerized cargo carried in 1,909` Containers (267 TEUs Imports and 1,642 TEUs export) was handled at the port during last 24 hours.

There are 11 ships at Outer Anchorage of Port Qasim, out of them, 02 ships, Star Jeannette and MSC Leo VI & 02 more ships, Maersk Selator and Yihai carrying Conola Seed, Containers and Palm Kernal are expected to take berths at PIBT, QICT and MW-2 on Tuesday, 7th February-2023.
