Activities of Karachi Port and Port Qasim

KARACHI: The Karachi Port Trust handled 155,390 tonnes of cargo comprising 90,529 tonnes of import cargo and 64,861 tonnes of export cargo during last 48 hours ending at 0700 hours.

The total import cargo of 90,529 comprised of 77,183 tonnes of Containerized Cargo, 12,967 tonnes of Bulk Cargo & 379 tonnes of Urea.

The total export cargo of 64,861 tonnes comprised of 63,386 tonnes of containerized cargo, 600 tonnes of Cement & 875 tonnes of Oil & Liquid Cargo.

Nearly, 6315 containers comprising of 2358 containers import and 3957 containers export were handled on Monday. The break-up of imported containers shows 898 of 20’s and 633 of 40’s loaded while 00 of 20’s and 97 of 40’s empty containers, whereas that of exported containers shows 742 of 20’s and 538 of 40’s loaded containers while 463 of 20’s and 838 of 40’s empty containers were handled during the business hours.

Around 06 ships, namely Msc Malin, Ocean Autumn, Hyundai Hongkong, Diyala, M.T Lahore and APL Oregon have berth at Karachi Port.

PORT QASIM

A total of 08 ships were engaged at PQA berths during the last 24 hours, out of them, a containers ship ‘MSC Himanshi’ left the Port on Monday morning, while 03 more ships, Fraiha, Morning Glory and Gas Athena are expected to sail on today in the afternoon.

A Cargo volume of 97,380 tonnes, comprising 71,659 tonnes imports cargo and 25,721 tonnes export cargo, including containerized cargo carried in 1,815` Containers (302 TEUs Imports and 1,513 TEUs export) was handled at the port during last 24 hours.

There are 07 ships at Outer Anchorage of Port Qasim, out of them, 03 ships, Fairchem Kiso, FG Rotterdam and MSC Mumbai & another containers ships ‘MSC Lana’ carrying Soyabean, Chemical and Containers are expected to take berths at MW-1, EVTL and QICT on Monday, 17th Oct- and another ship ‘Maersk Pittsburgh’ is due to arrive at Port Qasim on Tuesday, 18th October-2022.
