Activities of Karachi Port

KARACHI: The Karachi Port Trust handled 259,019 tonnes of cargo comprising 132,793 tonnes of import cargo and 126,226 tonnes of export cargo during last 48 hours ending at 0700 hours.

The total import cargo of 132,793 comprised of 87,293 tonnes of Containerized Cargo, 1,891 tonnes of Bulk Cargo, 11,192 tonnes of Soya Bean Seed and 32,417 tonnes of Oil and Liquid Cargo.

The total export cargo of 126,226 tonnes comprised of 86,944 tonnes of containerized cargo, 995 tonnes of Bulk Cargo, 16,770 tonnes of Cement, 5,857 tonnes of Mill Scale and 15,660 tonnes of Oil and Liquid Cargo.

Approximately, 7594 containers comprising of 5252 containers import and 2342 containers export were handled during the last 24 hours on Thursday.

The break-up of imported containers shows 1131 of 20’s and 2033 of 40’s loaded while 29 of 20’s and 13 of 40’s empty containers, whereas that of exported containers shows 349 of 20’s and 118 of 40’s loaded containers while 305 of 20’s and 726 of 40’s empty containers were handled during the business hours.

Around 11 ships namely, Merry Star, Oriental Freesia, Ever Ursila, Hyundai Tacoma, Msc Lana, Jo Ask, Arman 10, New Fairy, Kota Padang, Hai Tun Zuo and Northern Dexterity have berth at Karachi Port.

About 11 ships namely, Kota Naluri, Ginga Hawk, Kai Xuan 11, Al Shaffiah, Xin Chang Shu, Cosco Thailand, OOCL Norfolk, Andrea Victory Merry Star, Mohar, Lian Yang Hu and Uafl Dubai have sailed out from Karachi Port.

Nearly 08 cargoes namely, MT Karachi, MOL Generosity, MSC Clementina F, Jwala, IDC Pearl, Celsius Naples, Oel Kedarnth and Hilda were expected to reach at the port on the same day.

PORT QASIM

Meanwhile another ship ‘Valkyre’ carrying 53,475 tonnes of Coal also arrived at outer anchorage of the Port Qasim during the same day.

PQA berths were engaged by 11 ships during the last 24 hours, out of them, two ships, Container vessel ‘MOL Generosity’ and Oil tanker ‘Elka Aster’ left the Port on Thursday morning, while another bulk cargo carrier ‘Astoria’ is expected to sail on today in the afternoon.

A cargo volume of 175,063 tonnes, comprising 145,093 tonnes imports cargo and 29,970 tonnes export cargo, including containerized cargo carried in 3,582 Containers (2,336 TEUs Imports and 1,246 TEUs export) was handled at the port during last 24 hours.

There are 09 ships at Outer Anchorage of Port Qasim, out of them, three ships, EM Astoria, Valkyrie and UACC Ibn Al-Halthai carrying Containers, Coal and Gas oil are expected to take berths at QICT, PQEPT and FOTCO on Thursday, 24th March.
