Activities of Karachi Port and Port Qasim

KARACHI: The Karachi Port Trust handled 149,944 tonnes of cargo comprising 114,972 tonnes of import cargo and 34,972 tonnes of export cargo during last 24 hours ending at 0700 hours.

The total import cargo of 114,972 comprised of 48,876 tonnes of Containerized Cargo, 2,949 tonnes of Wheat, 5,879 tonnes of Yellow Soya Bean Seeds and 57,268 tonnes of Oil/Liquid Cargo.

The total export cargo of 34,972 tonnes comprised of 18,597 tonnes of containerized cargo, 600 tonnes of Bulk Cargo, 8,000 tonnes of Clinkers, 2,816 tonnes of Cement, 1,059 tonnes of Rice and 3,900 tonnes of Oil & Liquid Cargo.

About, 5623 containers comprising of 3866 containers import and 1755 containers export were handled during the last 24 hours on Thursday.

The break-up of imported containers shows 648 of 20’s and 1549 of 40’s loaded while 00 of 20’s and 60 of 40’s empty containers, whereas that of exported containers shows 464 of 20’s and 191 of 40’s loaded containers while 23 of 20’s and 444 of 40’s empty containers were handled during the business hours.

Nearly, 04 ships namely, S-Trooper, Nacc Vega, Xin WU Han and Kyoto Express have berth at Karachi Port.

Some 02 ships, namely APL Antwerp and Long Beach Trader sailed out from Karachi Port on Thursday.

Approximately, 07 cargoes namely Star Ploeg, Southern Robin, Teera Bhum, Mol Generosity, Seamax Westport, Szczecin Trader and Sino Bridge were to expected to arrive at the port.

PORT QASIM

Meanwhile three more ships, UACC Ibn Al-Haitham, Glory Harvest and Sakizaya Elegance carrying Gasoline, Petroleum gas and Soya bean also arrived at outer anchorage of Port Qasim during the same day.

PQA berths were engaged by 11 ships during the last 24 hours, out of them, four ships, Archimidis, Philo Xenia, Broog and Gas Lotus left the port on Thursday morning, while three more ships IVS Pinehurst, Teera Bhum and America are expected to sail from PQEPT and QICT on today in the afternoon.

A cargo volume of 155,881 tonnes, comprising 95,877 tonnes imports cargo and 60,004 tonnes export cargo, including containerized cargo carried in 4,434 Containers (1,156 TEUs Imports and 3,434 TEUs export) was handled at the Port during last 24 hours.

There are ten ships at Outer Anchorage of Port Qasim, out of them, three ships, Asia Liberty, Glory Harvest and Express Athens & another ship ‘ Irenes Ray’ carrying Palm oil, LPG and Containers are expected to take berths at LCT, SSGC and QICT on Thursday, 17th February, while two more container ships, CMA CGM Rabelais and Malin are due to arrive at Port Qasim on Friday, 18th February-2022.
