Activities of Karachi Port and Port Qasim

KARACHI: The Karachi Port Trust handled 116,178 tonnes of cargo comprising 81,228 tonnes of import cargo and 34,950 tonnes of export cargo during last 24 hours ending at 0700 hours.

The total import cargo of 81,228 comprised of 57,696 tonnes of Containerized Cargo, 3,132 tonnes of Bulk Cargo and 20,400 tonnes of Oil/Liquid Cargo.

The total export cargo of 34,950 tonnes comprised of 34,350 tonnes of containerized cargo and 600 tonnes of Bulk Cargo.

Nearly, 8261 containers comprising of 4722 containers import and 3539 containers export were handled during the last 24 hours on Wednesday.

The break-up of imported containers shows 1122 of 20’s and 1605 of 40’s loaded while 152 of 20’s and 119 of 40’s empty containers, whereas that of exported containers shows 935 of 20’s and 183 of 40’s loaded containers while 246 of 20’s and 996 of 40’s empty containers were handled during the business hours.

Approximately 07 ships, namely Hansa Roternburg, Xin Shanghai, Windermere, Thorsky, X-Press Anglesey, Kemet Star and Celsius Naples have berth at Karachi Port.

About 06 ships, namely Talan, Hansa Roternburg, Cul Huizhou, Sound Young, Thorsky and Ocean Glory have sailed out from Karachi Port.

As many as 07 cargos namely,Jo Rowan, Navig8 Saiph, MT Shalamar, Ts Mimbai, MOL growth, Pegasus 01 and FLC Harmony were expected to arrive on the same day.

PORT QASIM

A total of eight ships were engaged at PQA berths during the last 24 hours, out of them, a container vessel ‘Safeen Pride’ left the port on Wednesday morning, while another container vessel ‘Maersk Pittsburgh’ is expected to sail from container terminal on today in the afternoon .

Cargo throughput of 213,001 tonnes, comprising 160,8131 tonnes imports cargo and 52,188 tonnes export cargo, including containerized cargo carried in 5,021 Containers (2,530 TEUs Imports and 2,491 TEUs export) was handled at the port during last 24 hours .

There are 18 ships at Outer Anchorage of Port Qasim, out of them six ships, MOL Growth, Dakang, Virtuous Striker, Stena Imperative, Glory Harvest and Khairpur carrying Containers, General cargo, Coal, Chemicals, LPG and Gas oil are expected to take berths at QICT, MW-1, PIBT, EVTL, SSGC and FOTCO respectively on Wednesday, 15th December -2021.
