Activities of Karachi Port and Port Qasim

KARACHI: The Karachi Port Trust handled 123,247 tons of cargo comprising 106,048 tonnes of import cargo and 17,1499 tonnes of export cargo during last 24 hours ending on Wednesday.

The total import cargo of 106,048 comprised of 39,501 tonnes of Containerized Cargo, 7,221 tonnes of Bulk Cargo, 20,210 tonnes of DAP, 2,788 tonnes of Palm Kernel Expeller, 4,076 tonnes of Sugar, 7,552 tonnes of Wheat and 24,700 tonnes of Oil/Liquid Cargo.

The total export cargo of 17,199 tonnes comprised of 17,199 tonnes of containerized cargo.

Nearly, 3997 containers comprising of 2057 containers import and 940 containers export were handled during the last 24 hours on Wednesday.

The break-up of imported containers shows 621 of 20’s and 1218 of 40’s loaded while 00 of 20’s and 00 of 40’s empty containers, whereas that of exported containers shows 575 of 20’s and 50 of 40’s loaded containers while 41 of 20’s and 112 of 40’s empty containers were handled during the business hours. Some 06 ships namely, Glovis Star, YM Express, TS Mumbai, MT Karachi, Black Swan and Mol Genesis have berthed at the Karachi Port. Nearly 05 ships namely, Kota Naked, Al Mahboobah, Teera Bhum, Orchid and Glovis Star have sailed out from Karachi Port.

About 07 cargoes namely, Bow Clipper, Chem Ranger, Osaka, CSCL Mansanillo, Caledonia, Woridera-6 and Asia Ruby 1V expected to arrive on the same day.

PORT QASIM

A total of 12 ships were engaged at PQA berths during the last 24 hours, out of them, six ships namely, MSC Samu, Julie, Elizabeth, FP MC-30, Elikon and T-Vega left the port on Wednesday morning, while another container vessel ‘Maersk Denver’ is expected to sail on today in the afternoon .

A cargo throughput of 214,474 tonnes, comprising 176,360 tonnes imports cargo and 38,114 tonnes export cargo, including containerized cargo carried in 5,222 Containers (2,980 TEUs Imports and 2,242 TEUs export) was handled at the port during last 24 hours .

There are seven ships, APL California, Vega Stetind, IVS Bosch Hoek, Lista, Maritime Suzanne, PS Ocean and Umm Al-Amad scheduled to load/offload Containers, Rice, Coal, Wheat, Palm oil, Chemicals and Natural gas are expected to take berths at QICT, MW-2, MW-4, FAP, LCT.
