KARACHI: All Pakistan Marble Industries Association (APMIA) Chairman Sheikh Muhammad Rizwan urged the government to solve the problems of Marble City, Risalpur on priority basis.

APMIA Chairman in a statement said that Marble City, Risalpur is a development project initiated by the government and administrated by Pakistan Stone Development Company (PASDEC).

In this project, several hundred allottees paid electricity load charges to PASDEC, however unfortunately PASDEC failed to provide electricity transmission from PESCO to already developed industries and those which are seriously suffering due to the shortage of electricity load to run the production, whereas other allottees have also halted investment to install and develop their land into factory. Around 90 percent of the allottees are trying to set up their factories for export but the project is still incomplete due to the government’s inattention to this project, he added.

He further said Prime Minister Imran Khan is very keen for the growth of industries in the country, therefore, it is humbly requested to him to pay special attention to the problems of Marble City, Risalpur and resolve those on priority basis and the allottees should be taken on board for future issues.

Furthermore, the location of this area is near to CPEC route and it can also become a export hub of marble & granite.–PR
