Textile sector: TDAP holds webinar on growth of SMEs

FAISALABAD: Trade Development Authority of Pakistan (TDAP), Faisalabad organized a webinar titled ‘Growth of SMEs in the Textile Sector’ for raising awareness among the start-ups and Small & Medium Enterprises (SMEs).

Speakers were APBUMA Faisalabad senior vice chairman Bilal Jameel, SMEDA provincial chief Javed Afzal, and, State Bank of Pakistan (SBP) Faisalabad assistant chief manager Tahir Abbas.

APBUMA SVC Bilal Jameel stressed on importance of SMEs in economy and particularly textile sector, which has remained backbone of Pakistan economy and provides jobs and foreign exchange earner. China started its economic boon in 80s, by supporting SMEs and government focus should remain on promoting Pakistani SMEs. SMEDA provincial chief Javed Afzal appreciated TDAP in bringing the stakeholders at a platform. SMEDA in collaboration with International Agencies like JICA, World Bank, Asian Development Bank and ITC are supporting SMEs. SMEDA also develops business plans for SMEs on nominal charges with the help of designated experts of respective fields. He assured full support to members of APBUMA.

SBP ACM Tahir Abbas briefed about central bank’s various financing schemes designed and dedicated for SMEs. TDAP Faisalabad director Allah Dad Tarar appreciated the enthusiasm of 60 participants from SMEs start-ups and members of business associations who attended the webinar and assured that TDAP will continue to support SMEs growth and to facilitate to explore international markets for export.–PR
