THE RUPEE: No visible change

KARACHI: On Thursday, on market close, PKR recorded no change against USD in both inter-bank and open markets. It however went down against Euro while going up slightly against AED and SR in open market. On global front, USD hit a two week low as Federal Reserve insisted that rate increase was still far off. This moved investors towards relatively more risky assets.

INTER-BANK MARKET RATES: In the inter-bank market, Pakistan Rupee remained unchanged for both buying and selling against USD over yesterday's rates closing at 161.90 and 162 respectively.

OPEN MARKET RATES: In the open market, PKR remained unchanged for both buying and selling as well over yesterday's rates closing at 161.60 and 162 respectively. Against Euro, PKR lost 50 paisas for both buying and selling closing at 189 and 190.50 respectively.

Against UAE Dirham, PKR gained 5 paisas for buying while remaining unchanged for selling closing at 43.65 and 43.95 respectively.

Against Saudi Riyal, PKR gained 5 paisas for buying as well while remaining unchanged for selling closing at 42.65 and 42.95 respectively.

RUPEE IN LAHORE: The Pak rupee marginally recovered its day earlier losses versus the greenback in the local currency market on Thursday.

Following a slight decrease in the buyers' interest, the greenback commenced trading on a negative note and remained under selling pressure throughout the trading session. As a result, the greenback declined its worth by 10 paisas and closed for buying and selling at Rs 161.40 and Rs 162.70 against the overnight closing rate of Rs 161.50 and Rs 162.80, respectively, local currency dealers said.

On the other hand, the rupee maintained its downward slide for the third consecutive day against the pound sterling. The pound's buying and selling rates further rose from Wednesday's closing of Rs 220.00 and Rs 223.70 to Rs 223.10 and Rs 224.80 respectively, they added.

RUPEE IN ISLAMABAD AND RAWALPINDI: The dollar gained 50paisas against the rupee at the open currency markets of Islamabad and Rawalpindi here on Thursday.

The dollar opened at Rs162.20(buying) and Rs 162.30 (selling) against last rate of Rs161.70(buying) and Rs 161.80(selling).

It closed at Rs162.20(buying) and Rs 162.30 (selling).

The buying and selling rates of one tola of gold remained Rs106,000 (selling) and Rs106.100 (selling).
