ISLAMABAD: The Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) has created a new post of Chief Collector of Customs Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa from June 1, 2021 to deal with the customs-related matters of Peshawar and Dera Ismail Khan.

According to a notification issued by the FBR, here on Wednesday, the Chief Collector of Customs (North) would now deal with the Collectorate of Customs, Islamabad and Collectorate of Customs, Gilgit-Baltistan.

The Chief Collector of Customs KP would have the power and jurisdiction to deal with the Collectorate of Customs Appraisement Peshawar; Collectorate of Customs Enforcement, Peshawar and Collectorate of Customs Enforcement, Dera Ismail Khan.

Earlier, the Chief Collector of Customs (North) had the jurisdiction over Collectorate of Customs, Islamabad; Collectorate of Customs, Gilgit-Baltistan, the Collectorate of Customs Appraisement Peshawar, and Collectorate of Customs Enforcement, Peshawar.

Now the total positions of the chief collectors of Customs stood at seven including Chief Collector of Customs, Appraisement (South), Custom House, Karachi; Chief Collector of Customs Enforcement (South), Custom House, Karachi; Chief Collector of Customs Balochistan, Custom House, Quetta; Chief Collector of Customs Appraisement (Central), Customs House, Lahore; Chief Collector of Customs Enforcement (Central), Customs House, Lahore; Chief Collector of Customs (North), Customs House, Islamabad, and Chief Collector of Customs Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Customs House, Peshawar.

The newly-created Collector, Collectorate of Customs Enforcement, Dera Ismail Khan would deal with anti-smuggling and preventive operations including the field units i.e. mobile squad/check posts located within Civil Divisions of DI Khan, Bannu, and Kohat and all matters of customs including imports and exports at DI Khan and Bannu airports; Postal appraisement at GPO, DI Khan; Investigation & Prosecution Branch; Auction and destruction of goods; All matters relating to warehouses owned and operated by airlines and state warehouses within the aforesaid Civil divisions.

The total positions of Chief Collectors (Customs) and Collector of Customs across the country now stand at 29.

The warehousing of goods shall be in those areas within the territorial limits mentioned against Collectorates, which have been notified as warehousing stations under Section 11 of the Customs Act, 1969, the FBR added.
