Petroleum Division: PAC body examines audit reports

ISLAMABAD: A sub-committee of the Public Accounts Committee (PAC), on Tuesday, examined audit reports of 2016-17, 2017-18, and 2019, of the Petroleum Division. Naveed Qamar chaired the meeting of the committee. The committee has sought details of the defaulters of the Sui Southern Gas Company (SSGC) as receivable of the SSGC reached to Rs 6.78 billion in the audit period.

The gas company also inflicted financial losses of Rs1.46 billion due to gas theft. The convener committee said that the receivable of gas company was increased in connivance of the SSGC staff. The committee was further informed that educational degrees of eight employees of the SSGC were proven fake and they were still working.

The convener said that the Petroleum Division showed generosity to let fake degree holders continue work. He remarked this showed that an illiterate could also be appointed as managing director SSGC. He further said that some employees were terminated on the basis that their services were hired during the Pakistan Peoples Party’s government.
