In the meeting, KPTMA delegation expressed their serious concerns over the decision of the government to discontinue the gas supply to power plants of KP textile industry.

The delegation emphasized that such decision would render the power plants of industry useless and therefore would cause huge financial loss besides creating unemployment of power plant staff. Expected loss in export orders due to increase in cost, power supply interruptions and voltage fluctuation were some of the problems discussed in the meeting.

It was highlighted that discontinuing the gas supply to the gas-producing province is akin to the denial of its constitutional right. Omar Ayub Khan stated that the government would not take back the decision however all the steps would be taken to ensure smooth supply of electricity with minimal voltage fluctuation.
