DISCOs, other institutions: PM’s vital role sought to stop proposed privatisation

FAISALABAD: Prime Minister Imran Khan should play his important role to stop the proposed privatisation of the Distribution Companies (DISCOs) and other national institutions in view of failed experience of the K-Electric.

This was said by office bearers of All Pakistan WAPDA Hydro Electric Workers Union (APWHEWU), while addressing a protest rally at Chowk Abdullahpur here Tuesday.

The rally was arranged by APWHEWU from Bakhtiar Labour Hall to Chowk Abdullahpur against the proposed privatization of the DISCOs. They made it clear that privatisation of DISCOs was not in the interest of national interest and said the government should introduce reform in the department instead privatisation. They also demanded the government to provide the working environment and that was only way to get excellent results. Participants of rally assured their full confidence over the leadership of the General Secretary Hydro Union Khurshid Ahmed Khan and said that they would obey all his orders.

At the end of protest, special prayer was held for the martyred of the WAPDA and Pak Army.—PR
