ISLAMABAD: Federal Minister for Planning, Development and Special Initiatives Asad Umar assured a delegation of the Islamabad Chamber of Commerce and Industry (ICCI) that the federal government would extend all possible support for establishment of a new industrial estate in Islamabad.

The minister expressed these views, while addressing the ICCI delegation, which called on him led by Sardar Yasir Ilyas Khan, president ICCI on Thursday at the Ministry of Planning, Development, and Special Initiatives.

Khalid Javed, Shaban Khalid, Chaudhry Nadeem Gujjar, and Taha Akbar Ansari, were also present in the meeting.

The minister said the current government was fully focused on reviving industrialisation to achieve rapid economic growth, and maximum facilitation would be extended to the ICCI for a new industrial zone in the region.

Yasir Ilyas gave a detailed presentation on various activities of the chamber.

The delegation stressed on the need for a new industrial estate in the federal capital.

They said the existing industrial zone in Islamabad had saturated due to which setting up new industrial units in Islamabad was not possible, and the potential of the region was not being fully exploited.

The area is a supply hub for the whole northern region.
