RTO seeks business community's help to expend tax net

KARACHI: Chief Commissioner Corporate Regional Tax Office Karachi FBR, Aftab Imam has sought cooperation from business community to expend tax net.

Speaking at a meeting of Korangi Association of Trade and Industry (KATI), he said that business community is the backbone of our economy and it is our first priority to facilitate our taxpayers. He said that we discouraged advance tax and delay in tax refund payments and focused on tax collection.

He noted that after timely release of refunds not only business activities have enhanced but it revenue collection also increased.

Patron-in-Chief of KATI SM Muneer said that letters regarding audit has become headache for business community and this issue should be resolved once for all. He also acknowledged that officials like Aftab Imam give us hope for reforms in tax regime.

President KATI Saleem-uz-Zaman said that Karachi contributes the largest share in country's revenue but industries still faces basic infrastructure and ease of doing business issues. He suggested that to encourage tax payers, government should facilitate them.

Head of KATI's Committee on Taxation and FBR Rashid Siddiqui said that due to efforts of Aftab Imam Revenue collection increased significantly.

Chairman and CEO KITE Zubair Chhaya was of view that division between filer and non-filer actually put more burdens on taxpayers. He also expressed concern over audit notices from FBR and urged to resolve this issue.
