US doctors lie about COVID-19 deaths for money: Trump

31 Oct, 2020

With less than a week remaining in the Election Day, US President Donald Trump has sparked another controversy by claiming American doctors lie about coronavirus deaths to "get more money".

The President made these claims while addressing to a rally in New Hampshire on Friday.

He said that in Germany and other countries, when a person who dies from cancer or any other terminally ill disease, he is said to have died from that same disease. However, when it comes to doctors in the US, they lie and say the patient died of the coronavirus.

“Some countries, they report differently. If somebody is sick with a heart problem, and they die of COVID, they say they die of a heart problem…. We report them, and doctors get more money, and hospitals get more money…. This country and their reporting systems are really not doing it right…. We’re going to start looking at things, because they have things a little bit backwards,” Trump told audience.

"So what they do is, they say, ‘I’m sorry, but, you know, everybody dies of Covid,’” Trump continued.

The US president's remarks were not well received on social media.

One user termed them "beyond reprehensible".
