President honours naval chief with Nishan-e-Imtiaz

The medal is the highest honour given to any military officer in Pakistan, based on their achievements towards the country

(Karachi) President of Pakistan Arif Alvi, at a special investiture ceremony held in Islamabad, conferred Nishan-e-Imtiaz (Military) Medal on Naval Chief Admiral Admiral Amjad Khan, media reported on Thursday.

Muhammad Amjad Khan Niazi took charge as naval chief on October 7. He had joined the Pakistan Navy in 1983. The Sword of Honor recipient, the Admiral has a distinguished career with various Command and Staff appointments’ experience.

Muhammad Amjad Khan Niazi’s major command appointments include Commanding Officer PNS BADR, Commanding Officer PNS TARIQ, Commander 18th Destroyer Squadron, Commandant PNS BAHADUR, and Commandant Pakistan Navy War College, Lahore.

He has been awarded Hilal-i-Imtiaz (Military) and Sitara-e-Basalat by the Government of Pakistan and French Medal Chevalier (Knight) by the Government of France.

The Nishan-i-Imtiaz (Order of Excellence) Medal is the highest honour given to any civilian in Pakistan, based on their achievements towards world recognition of Pakistan or for an outstanding service to the country. The award is not limited to citizens of Pakistan and while it is a civilian award, it can also be awarded to military personnel and worn on uniform.
