Motorway case: Police release sketches of prime suspect

Updated 19 Sep, 2020

LAHORE: The Punjab police on Friday released around a half dozen different sketches of Abid Malhi, the fleeing prime suspect in the motorway case, for his early identification and arrest. The move came after the personnel of security agencies and the Punjab Counter-Terrorism Department (CTD) remained unsuccessful in nabbing Malhi during a raid at a village in Kasur district in the wee hours of Thursday.

It may be mentioned that the raid was carried out when the law enforcement agencies (LEAs) detected calls of Malhi made to his relatives at Kasur and received tip-off about the suspect's presence at a house of his relative. However, the sketches released by the Punjab police showed Abid Ali in at least six possible guises. In one photo, the police removed Abid's hairs while in the other the suspect is shown with only a mustache. Similarly, the rest of the sketches showed different combinations of the hairstyles and facial hair.
