(Karachi) Leader of the Opposition and Pakistan Muslim League Nawaz (PML-N) President Shehbaz Sharif has said that his party is being politically victimised in the name of accountability which could have serious consequences.

Addressing an All Parties Conference (APC) organised by Pakistan Bar Council (PBC) in Islamabad on Thursday, Shehbaz Sharif said: "We have already faced repercussions of such tactics in the past. I hope we don't make the same mistake again.

The PML-N president said he respects the judges but some of them even gave dictators the right to amend the Constitution. "There are many honourable judges but at the same time, there are also people like Arshad Malik," he pointed out.

"We need to learn lessons from history and move forward.”

He highlighted that Balochistan is Pakistan's largest province by land and PML-N government increased its share by 100 percent. "If we have to move forward then we must address the grievances of small provinces. Only then can Pakistan become a prosperous nation," he remarked.

Speaking on the occasion, Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari said there is need to rescue the country and the Constitution from the current oppressive regime.

He added that none of the opposition members were allowed to speak during the parliament session while Speaker Asad Qaiser did not listen to their request for recounting of votes. "The 18th Amendment and National Finance Commission Awards are under threat and a political campaign is needed to protect these initiatives."
