JI criticises new amendments

Jamaat-e-Islami, Ameer, Syed Munawar Hasan has strongly reacted to the contempt of court Amendment Act 2012 and Dual Citizenship Act saying the bills had been introduced by the ruling party to provide protection to the corrupt rulers.
In a statement on Tuesday, he said the ruling partly along with its allies had crushed all moral and social values and principles of justice only for its vested interests.
He said these acts were not only against spirit of Islam but also against the constitution. "It has been mentioned in the constitution of Pakistan that no law against Sharia would be enacted as all are equal to God," he added.
He further said that a criminal whether be a ruler or a layman would be equal to law and no discrimination could be made for its punishment.
He said the Amendment Clause that had been introduced speaks its volume. "Each and every word of the clause categorically explains that it has been added only to provide a cover to the corruption of the President Asif Ali Zardari," he added.
JI Ameer said the bills had also been introduced to provide a shield to the president against the decisions of the apex court, which ordered the executive to write a letter to the Swiss courts for opening graft cases against the president.
He warned the rulers of dire consequences if they did not refrain from taking measures against national interests for their own interests.
